We build. We build residential homes. We build care homes. We build offices and commercial premises, education, health and science facilities. We build new, we remodel and refurbish. We understand and embrace new construction methods and we have the experience to value traditional skills.
Pre-construction
This is only part of the story. The remainder illustrates the complexity of our delivery role. From the point a tender arrives with us our Pre-Construction Director Gerry Lennon and the team assess the viability of the project and the optimum methods of construction, the buildability. This involves opening communications with the key stakeholders, understanding expectations and inviting the appropriate specialist consultants and subcontractors to contribute at the earliest opportunity. We have an experienced in-house design management team that will develop the design through the RIBA stages.
Throughout the transition period, our pre-construction and construction teams work closely to ensure requirements, challenges and solutions are understood before moving on-site and beginning the construction process.
Project Delivery
Under the leadership of Operations Director, Steve Juson, the construction teams comprising of our experienced Projects Managers, Site Managers, Surveyors and trades people, backed up by technical buyers and a fully approved supply chain manage the day to day logistics and practicalities of delivering a quality product. We recognise the importance of quality finishing, efficient handover and post-handover care so ensure these aspects receive dedicated attention.
We ensure transparency is maintained throughout the whole process with regular reports, progress meetings and communications.
Land & Development
We also have a highly experienced Land and Development function which identifies, negotiates and advises on potential land purchases, the optimum development opportunities, appropriate design and planning issues and accommodation manifests.
We can work with client partners using many models, we are totally flexible. This includes offering a turnkey solution or a joint venture. Alternatively, we are always happy to just advise clients on land acquisition and development options.
Health & Safety
Training, awareness, application.
Construction is inherently dangerous, health & safety both on-site and in the immediate vicinity is paramount to us and, as result of our safe systems of work, we have maintained an exemplary record over many years.
All our sites are inspected regularly by independent H&S consultants who provide in-depth reports, statistical analyses, improvement advice, risk assessments and guidance. They are also responsible for maintaining our H&S Policy and Procedures to ensure awareness of and compliance with changes in legislation. Our people hold CSCS cards appropriate for their role and receive the H&S training relevant to the tasks they undertake. It is in all our interests to protect those working with us and the immediate community.
As supporters of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) and it’s imperative to improve the image of construction we firmly believe that a clean site is a safe site and make strenuous efforts to maintain clearly identified safe work areas. This extends beyond our site boundaries to the local community where clear channels of communication are available to explain the construction process, the potential hazards and mitigations. Frequent inspections against CCS criteria are undertaken by their monitors for which we regularly recieve scores well above the national average, as evidenced by having recieved a Gold and two Bronze awards under the CCS National Site Awards scheme.
In addition to the health & safety procedures we have a hazard identification education programme in place that has focused to date on issues such as silica dust, HAVS, noise and manual handling amongst others. We also provide general health awareness information. This has covered hydration, sun protection, cancer, mental health, diabetes and will expand by continuing to highlight important wellbeing issues in conjunction with relevant charities and healthcare professionals.
