Calcutta Road Completes As We Welcome Beaconsfield Place To Tilbury
Published 17 March 2022
We are delighted to announce we have successfully completed on site at Calcutta Road in Tilbury. Last week we handed over to our client Thurrock Council, 35 one and two bed affordable retirement living homes for over 55s.
This new quality scheme, which has been named Beaconsfield Place, comprises of mix of 3 and 4 storey blocks, which surround a shared public courtyard and communal landscaped gardens. The scheme also includes, an outdoor gym, roof garden and scooter store, as well as community onsite facilities for residents to enjoy.
Owing to the location of this scheme within a floodplain, the building was carefully designed and built in a lightweight steel gauge system, on top of a concrete transfer slab, thus allowing us to incorporate secure under croft car parking for all residents. To deliver this project there were more than 160,000 hours worked on site, from the start of the project to completion, working throughout the pandemic to ensure delivery of this scheme.
Our Ops Director Steve Juson commented:
"We are pleased to have handed over to our client Thurrock Council this landmark scheme. This development is a fantastic investment to the local area and will provide both residents and the community with a new focal point of interest to this area of Tilbury".
Thurrock Councils Cabinet Member for Housing Cllr Luke Spillman said: "The new Calcutta Road development in Tilbury has been a wonderful and much-needed addition to our portfolio of affordable housing for Thurrock’s residents. Everyone should have access to a good quality home and at Thurrock Council we are committed to exploring new and innovative ways to unlock housing delivery and build better homes for our residents. Thank you to our developer Kind & Co and to the teams across our council services for your hard work and dedication".
