Cornwallis Court celebrates start on site

Last week, our Managing Director Steve Juson was delighted to join our projects team on site with our client RMBI Care Co. to celebrate the beginning of the phased redevelopment of Cornwallis Court; a 64-bed new build care facility planned in Bury St Edmunds.

To mark the official ‘start on site’ for this project, Deputy Superintendent Sir David Wootton began proceedings by ceremoniously cutting the turf to ‘kick off’ construction, along with care home & regional manager Denise O'Brien and John Boyington CBE, Chair of Trustees at RMBI Care Co. 

Following this we heard from the RMBI’s Managing Director Mark Lloyd who said:

 “Our new-build Home will provide residents with thoughtful and purpose-designed environments that enhance and promote wellbeing. Cornwallis Court is currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission and this will help to further strengthen the exceptional care staff provide.”

Closing the speeches was our MD Steve; he accredited the strong partnership we have built thus far, with both our client and the design team, having worked together to achieve planning during the PSCA period. 

Steve touched on collaborative working and said that we looked forward to delivering this new care facility:

"Both myself and the project team are delighted to be taking part in this ceremony here today, to celebrate the start of the construction phase of this project. In recent months we have worked closely with both RMBI Care Co. and the design team, to achieve planning on this scheme. It was not straight forward, and we are pleased to have been able to contribute our expertise to ensure planning was achieved.

The experience working on this project to date has been 100% collaborative and we look forward to continuing in this approach as we move into the construction phase.

Phased demolition has now commenced on site and we look forward to bringing further updates on the progress of this project as it develops.
