On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome our client Essex Housing to site, along with a number of local councillors and cabinet members for Colchester, as we marked the ‘Topping Out’ of phase one at Lexden Gardens.

We are currently progressing with phase one of the project, which consists of the delivery of 63 new homes located on the former site of Essex County Hospital, which officially closed its doors in 2018.

Our MD Steve Juson was delighted to greet our guests and provide them with an update on the three blocks we are delivering under this first phase in this redevelopment programme.

Steve said:
"We were delighted to carry out the ‘Topping Out’ ceremony on site this week at Lexden Gardens. This marks a significant milestone in the first phase of this wider regeneration project for Essex Housing. As well as undertaking the ceremony, we had the opportunity to provide a full update on the progress of each block. We look forward to the next visit – as we continue to push forward on the delivery of this scheme''.

Councillor Ray Gooding and Chair of Essex Housing Development LLP, who was present at the 'Topping Out' ceremony, said:

"This is an exciting milestone in the development of the Lexden Gardens project as we can now start to accelerate internal works on site. I’m delighted to see the hard work from Essex Housing taking shape on site and I’m looking forward to seeing the final product."

Phase one of this scheme is due for completion in the latter part of 2026.
