Bill Bassenger

Chief Executive Officer

Joining the company in 1986 as a Surveyor/Projects Manager, having previously completed his training & RICS exams, Bill progressed rapidly through the company gaining extensive experience across many varying new build & refurbishment projects, he also found the time to take direct membership exams and become a member of the Chartered Institute of Building – all whilst managing a busy family life, with three children under the age of five. Bill became Senior Projects Manager in 1995 and following this was promoted to Director in 2000. Following this in 2006 Bill became Joint Managing Director of Kind & Co; and in the company’s 78th year, Bill moved up to the role of Chief Executive Officer, as part of the planned, organic progression of the business.

Overseeing the strategic growth of the company, Bill will continue to chair the Board of Directors as he has done now for several years, make decisions and support key functions within the business, assuring the continued successful evolution and growth of Kind & Company. As a longstanding leader of the business, Bill remains passionate in driving our organisation's core values (our Kind Effect).

Bill’s own pathway into construction means that his outlook encompasses the Kind & Company ethos of learning and personal development, and he is a strong believer in investing in the people responsible for driving the business forward. As such, Bill was proud to announce in 2020 that Kind & Company had transformed to an EOT (Employee-Owned Trust), meaning all employees within the business share in future prosperity of the company.

For over 20 years now, Bill has been instrumental in introducing, investing, developing & leading Kind & Company’s apprenticeship and trainee programme, which to date includes no fewer than 40 Qualified Quantity Surveyors (with Hons) trained for our industry…and still counting!

Away from the office and in line with his views on youth development, Bill has coached right through from 6 to 19-year-olds for Brentwood Rugby Club, he has also been a committee member and is now a Vice-President; he enjoys watching most sports and avidly attends both international and club rugby matches.  Bill is also a keen club golfer.
